Construction & Demolition (C&D) Waste Management : HIF & Haryana Government Partnership

About the Initiative

Honda signed a strategic Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Government of Haryana to jointly implement a Construction & Demolition (C&D) Waste Management Program.
The initiative focuses on converting unmanaged construction debris such as rubble from old buildings, concrete pavements, and aging structures into usable products, thereby supporting sustainable waste handling practices.

Objective of the Program

The program aims to recycle construction and demolition waste into value-added materials such as tiles, through a Honda India Foundation & Haryana Government collaboration.
This initiative promotes environmental conservation, reduces unmanaged debris, and supports a cleaner living ecosystem.

Program Highlights

Leadership Presence at MoU Signing
The MoU for Construction & Demolition Waste Management was signed in the presence of:

  • Hon’ble Chief Minister of Haryana, Shri Nayab Singh Saini
  • Hon’ble Industrial Minister, Rao Narbir Singh
  • Shri Vinay Dhingra, Trustee, Honda India Foundation
  • Shri Katsuyuki Ozawa, Trustee, Honda India Foundation

This high-level partnership reflects a strong state commitment toward sustainable waste management and circular economy practices.

Establishment of Material Recovery Facility (MRF)

Honda India Foundation (HIF) plans to set up a Material Recovery Facility (MRF) to:

  • Recycle dry C&D waste
  • Produce items such as recycled tiles
  • Demonstrate practical models of circular economy in rural and urban settings

These recycled tile samples have already been showcased as part of the initiative.

Community Impact

Construction & Demolition waste, when left unattended, contributes to:

  • Dust pollution
  • Health hazards
  • Environmental deterioration
  • Reduced quality of life in surrounding communities

By recycling waste into usable material and establishing an MRF, the project aims to improve the health, social, and economic aspects of village life, while reducing unmanaged debris in growing urban areas.
