Cataract is a serious ophthalmological issue that could potentially lead to blindness. India is a signatory to the World Health Organization resolution on Vision 2020 – The right to sight. Despite extensive efforts being taken by government as well as private sector contributors, to combat these challenges and free the country from avoidable blindness is still a tall task. According to WHO, cataract is responsible for 50-80% of the bilaterally blind in India.
In order to contribute towards treatment of such ophthalmological issues, Honda engaged with implementing agencies with strong networks on the ground to deliver good quality eye care and facilitate early detection of cataract cases to those in need. To further this effort, Honda partnered with Deepalaya, an NGO to set up a Vision Centre in Gusbethi village Sahsola in Mewat district, Haryana. This year, through Deepalaya, Honda conducted eye check-ups for 10,549 patients in Mewat
