Kaushal Vikas Kendra for Persons with Disabilities (PwDs)

About the Initiative

Honda India Foundation (HIF) has joined hands with Sarthak Educational Trust to deliver industry relevant skilling and employment support to Persons with Disabilities (PwDs) through the Kaushal Vikas Kendra in Bengaluru. The partnership focuses on inclusive development by equipping PwDs with market-ready skills and connecting them with sustainable career opportunities.

This initiative strengthens HIF’s commitment to inclusive development by providing structured training, employability support, and long-term career pathways tailored to the needs of Persons with Disabilities.

Program Objective

To empower Persons with Disabilities through high quality, industry aligned skilling and connect them to dignified, sustainable employment opportunities, thereby promoting a more inclusive workforce ecosystem.

Program Highlights
Skill Training & Employability Support

The training model includes:

  • 3 month specialized training
  • Pre training assessments & counselling
  • Sector specific modules
  • Parents–trainer interaction sessions
  • Career readiness + mock interviews
  • Job interviews & placement support
Industry Relevant Training Sectors

Participants are trained for employment in:

  • IT / ITES
  • E commerce
  • Hospitality (Steward & Housekeeping)
  • Retail
  • Marketing
Beneficiary Reach
  • 125 PwDs to be trained in the first 6 months (Oct ’25 – Mar ’26)
  • 250 total beneficiaries planned under the project
  • Target age group: 18–35 years
Digital Platforms for Learning & Employment

Participants gain access to Sarthak’s specialized national level digital platforms:

  • CapSarathi – Digital enablement & accessibility
  • GyanSarathi – Learning management & online training
  • RozgarSarathi – Job portal for PwDs
    (as provided in user’s text)

These platforms ensure continuous learning, virtual support, and employment connectivity for PwD candidates.

Program Framework & Training Model

The Kaushal Vikas Kendra follows a structured, multi step skilling pathway:

  • Registration & assessment
  • Basic skill building training
  • Sector specific training
  • Guest lectures & exposure visits
  • On the job (OJT) training
  • Counselling & soft skills development
  • Placement facilitation

The program also uses a Learning Management System (LMS) to support digital learning and continuous monitoring.

Need & Impact

India has over 26.8 million Persons with Disabilities, yet workplace participation remains significantly low due to physical, systemic, and attitudinal barriers.

This initiative addresses these gaps by:

  • Providing accessible, job oriented skilling
  • Ensuring industry recognized training
  • Creating opportunities for sustainable employment
  • Building inclusive workplaces in partnership with employers
